What is article marketing or bum marketing?

Most people think that article marketing is the same as bum marketing. The main difference is that with bum marketing you find an untapped niche and an affiliate product in that niche. You write an article with keywords, which makes it easier for your article to rank in the search engines. In article marketing you would focus on the keyword “dog” but in bum marketing you would focus on the keyword “how to stop your dog barking”. In article marketing you would send your visitor to your website with a lot of information about dogs. In bum marketing you would send your visitor straight to your affiliate landing page selling an eBook about how to stop your dog from barking.

 

 

Here’s Wikipedia’s definition of article marketing: It is a type of advertising in which businesses write short articles related to their respective industry. These articles are made available for distribution and publication in the marketplace. Each article contains a bio box and byline (collectively known as the resource box) that include references and contact information for the author's business. Well-written content articles released for free distribution have the potential of increasing the authoring business' credibility within its market as well as attracting new clients. These articles are often syndicated by other websites, and published on multiple websites.

And here’s the simple explanation: you write a short article about your subject, then publish it to article websites or article directories with a resource box or your link. People who find your article will click on your resource box which contains your link, and that will make you money. The resource box is a small box underneath your article that contains your website link. For example: you write an article on ‘how to brush your teeth’ and in your resource box you put an affiliate link (the link you are given when clicking “promote” for the product you want to sell) to a Clickbank product or an affiliate link for toothbrushes on Amazon. Google loves certain article websites so assuming that you have written a unique article on ‘how to brush your teeth’, Google might list the article website. Your article will be read by people looking for information on ‘how to brush your teeth’ and when they click on the affiliate link in your resource box and buy via that link, you will make money .

With article marketing, you do not need to own a website or have any experience at all. Find a good niche with a shortage of articles, find an affiliate product that can earn you money and that’s it, you can make money. It is as simple as that.
Any internet marketer will tell you that article marketing is a good way of increasing sales. It is also an effective way of adding one-way links pointing to your site. Exchanging links with another site is still a good way of getting links both ways, but the search engines place more emphasis on one-way links (like article marketing) than two-way or reciprocal links.
